Finding Profitable Niche Markets: Step 2: Popular Sub Niche

Having found a high level niche, the next step is to "niche down" to reduce the size of the niche to something a bit more manageable.

Although this may seem to be an unnecessary step, it is important to follow the process, so that you can take a step back up the hierarchy if you find yourself in a dead-end.

What is a Sub-Niche?

Once you’ve decided which market to serve, you need a sub-niche within that market.

For example, if the Niche is Diet, then a Sub-Niche might be Supplements, or Diet Plans. Likewise if the Niche is Business, then a Sub-Niche might be Home Business, or Small Business, or even Online Business.

Again, you can take inspiration from Amazon/Kindle or any other online marketplace that you choose, and if you’ve taken the TCA shortcut mentioned in Step 1, you’ll need to niche up rather than down to keep consistency and also give you a chance to plan for the future.

It is important to keep a note of your niche decisions, too, since during this process, you are likely to come across other related niches and sub-niches that may also be interesting. To avoid distraction, keep a record of these as they come to you, but remain focused on the niche-finding exercise at hand!

Once you have identified your Sub-Niche, feel free to move on to Step 3: Develop the Micro-Niche.
